Only wanted criminals could be killed without any repercussions of any sort. What happened yesterday was because they had been given the order to kill. If he was found out to have killed his fellow cultivator, he would have been fined so hard that his heart could have burst open.
After circling around and making sure no one else was following him, Grey went to the same shop where he bought the poisonous herbs before. His heart clutched when he spent another twenty spirit stones. But because it affected his overall power, he had no choice but to swallow the pill.
After refining a new batch of poison, Grey also refined some medicine to sell. He didn’t want it to be suspicious that he bought certain herbs but didn’t make any pills. Most of the materials needed to refine pills were the same ones he used to make poison anyway.
After selling his medicinal pills and making back thirty spirit stones, he decided to head back to the Detective Agency. Only a couple of days had passed, yet he had made a lot. He refrained from checking the wanted list and entered his office, where he sat down and practiced the Shadow Sect secret art.
After practicing more and more, he found out that the burden it placed on his mind had reduced significantly. He controlled his shadow to slide under the door and come back. He did not try to test the corrosive properties after seeing what happened the last time.
So with a sigh, he released his control over his shadow after it stuck to his feet. A few minutes passed by before Grey decided to cultivate until evening. When he opened his eyes and looked out the window, he saw the clouds that were painted red by the setting sun. God’s hand was still hanging over the land, just like the same way he first saw it when his soul arrived.
His expression was unreadable as he watched the hidden sun set over the horizon, painting the entire city with a crimson hue like a painting before it disappeared shortly.
Grey did not see the Captain today, so he thought that she must have had other things to do, even if she wasn’t in the Detective Agency department.
With indifference, Grey walked out of the Detective Agency and reached the harbor where he docked his boat. Taking small glances around, he flicked his hands subtly and dispersed some poison. Only after he did that did he feel safe.
With a fresh new batch of poison, he felt his attack prowess had risen again. At the sixth level of Qi Accumulation, he could probably fight against someone at the eighth level of Qi Accumulation in Sky Mist City.
Grey had not even closed his eyes when he looked coldly outside the magic ship. There were a few people loitering around while taking occasional glances at the magic ship. But Grey did not move; instead, his lips curled up into a cold smile.
One of the guys loitering outside suddenly coughed out a mouthful of black blood. His face paled as he looked on in shock and disbelief. His cohorts also looked around in fear and shock before they coughed out mouthfuls of blood as well.
"Poison!" one of the youths loitering around shouted.
They looked at the magic ship that swayed lightly on the sea and felt disbelief in their hearts. Just as they were about to run away, the first person who coughed out blood suddenly fell to the ground dead. The rest wanted to run, but they did not even cross a fifteen-meter radius before they fell down dead as well.
As soon as they died, Grey pretended to close his eyes. Some distance away from the pier, a cultivator stood wearing white clothes. He looked at the scene with disbelief before starting his gaze at the person who was sitting silently in the magic ship. He seemed reluctant to leave, but recalling the way the group of people died after encountering Grey’s poison, he changed his mind and left.
As the cultivator left, Grey opened his eyes and looked in his direction coldly. He swept his gaze across the bodies of the people who were loitering around once. Grey seemed to hesitate for some time before he sent his shadow over. His shadow glided on top of the dead bodies, and in seconds, the bodies were reduced to less than bones.
The corrosive substance worked best on corpses as well. After decomposing the bodies and leaving no trace behind, his shadow returned back to his feet. When his shadow came back, it felt more corporeal and even had a small aura of death hanging around it. Grey only gave that a second thought before he closed his eyes to cultivate. A faint blue light enveloped the ship and acted as protection from both the waves and the outside world.
The space around Grey descended into silence as he raised his right hand and did a single vertical slash. The outline of a sword appeared around his hand. A faint purple sword light enveloped his hand, along with a dark gold aura that exuded dominance and majesty. Combined with the purple sword light, his hand looked like a mysterious sword shrouded in a dark gold aura of majestic domineeringness.
A strange light appeared in Grey’s eyes at that moment. He felt as if he could cut anything with his hand at that moment. Even his eyes seemed to be slashed just from looking at his right hand. Soon, the sword light dimmed, and Grey’s body no longer seemed shrouded in a majestic and domineering mystery.
As expected, my sudden enlightenment about the sword also made the sword art I comprehended from the corroded zone improve as well. Now my attack power has risen tremendously!
But compared to someone like the Captain, my cultivation base is still very far off. Luckily, the magic ship comes with an energy filter that increases the output of spirit energy. With a few spirit stones, my cultivation will be faster than ever!
Ignoring his heartache, he placed several spirit stones in the inscriptions of the magic ship. A moment later, the magic ship swayed lightly on top of the dark waters of the Dead Sea. A large influx of spirit energy was being directed from the inscriptions in the ship to assist Grey in his cultivation.
In seconds, Grey entered a semi-conscious state as he quickly absorbed the dense spirit energy coming into the ship. He felt his cultivation speed skyrocket. The previous bottomless abyss no longer seemed bottomless. And as more spirit energy entered his body, he felt a change going on within him.
This change was not profound; it was subtle, but Grey felt it nevertheless. He felt like something within was close to opening, but because of the lack of spirit energy, it failed.
Grey’s expression turned into a frown. Could this be the fabled spirit sea? Grey suddenly had a thought.
Yes, it is known that all cultivators have a spirit sea! The moment the spirit sea opens, it means that you are ready to walk the path of cultivation!
Usually, the spirit sea is a strange phenomenon whereby the cultivator unlocks a part of their spirit. All the spirit energy and potential within them forms a sea. The largest anybody’s sea has ever been is three thousand four hundred feet.
When cultivators enter the Foundation Establishment realm, they can now be called true cultivators. Qi Accumulation is just the prologue. A person truly walks the path of the Divine when he enters Foundation Establishment. His spirit sea transforms into the Sea of Consciousness.
As these thoughts ran through his head, a rare trace of excitement appeared on his usually indifferent face. Several hours passed, and the spirit stones lost their effects of aiding his cultivation, so after replacing them, he continued cultivating.
Grey did not know how much time had passed until he opened his eyes. The sun was beaming through small gaps in the clouds. He gave a small sigh as the sun beamed on the side of his face. His short grey hair fluttered lightly in the early morning breeze, and his detached expression gave him a very out-of-this-world look.
If you were to see him from the side, you would think he was the most handsome man in the world, with his calm temperament and slightly distant gaze.
He had been cultivating for two days without stopping, but the seventh level of Qi Accumulation was much harder to reach than he had expected. Nevertheless, he felt himself inching closer with every hour that passed.
With a wry smile, he turned to take a look at his account balance. Over the period of two days, he had used lots of spirit stones whenever their spirituality ran out. Now, he barely had one hundred and fifty spirit stones.
"In the end, cultivation takes up more resources..." he whispered softly. After that, he stood up and washed before leaving the comfort of the magic ship.
When he was on the pier, he waved his hand, and the magic ship shrank down to bottle size and disappeared. Grey brought out his detective hat with strange familiarity and placed it on his head.
’Time for breakfast...’
After breakfast, he planned on heading to the Detective Agency to check if there were any new missions or updates from the Captain. After that long cultivation session, he felt the need to stretch his body a bit.
